ANNOUNCEMENTS

•The movie “Fireproof” will be shown this evening at 6:00.  There is a special service planned for the kids in the Children’s Church room.  You don’t want to miss this special day.

•LEADERSHIP ENRICHMENT will be held Monday, January 12th at 7:00 pm.  All Church workers and those wanting to get involved are asked to attend.  If for some reason this date conflicts with your schedule, please call the Church office to make them aware.

•Ladies, you are invited to a drop-in baby shower honoring Sis. Amber Anderson on Sunday, January 11 from 4:30-5:30 in the Fellowship Hall.

•“Biggest Loser Contest” will begin January 5th.  We will meet Monday, January 5 at 7:00 for our kickoff meeting.  Each contestant will pay $20 to enter.  This will be an opportunity to share with other members of our church and help each other on the journey.  This is intended to be a fun and of course competitive challenge for men and women!  The challenge will last 13 weeks with the final weigh-in being April 6, 2009.  See Bro. Mike Carter or Sis. Margaret Graham for more information or to sign up.

•The Men’s Fellowship is holding a Squirrel Hunt for boys age 15 and under.  If you would like to participate, sign the sheet in the foyer or contact Bro. Mike Carter or Bro. Dale Smith.

•DivorceCare Sessions to begin Tuesday, January 13th at 7:00 PM here at the church. If you or someone you know has experienced separation or divorce, come be a part of a group that understands what your going through. In the group, you will learn how to deal with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life. Child care is   provided, if registered in advance. Contact Tina Reynolds or Anne Jackson or call the church office.

•HOPE (addiction recovery support group) will meet every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

•A box for prayer requests is located in the foyer.

•You are invited to attend the Pastoral Retirement Celebration of Rev. & Mrs. Leroy Spivey on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at West Ward Church of God located at 700 West Ward St., Douglas, Ga. Retirement Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

•We need help in our 0-1 year old nursery class.  If you can give one Sunday morning a month to help care for our precious babies contact Sis. Broni.

•Mid-Week Madness: 7-12 year olds-Drama begins at 6:00 & Choir at 6:30; 4-6 year olds-Cherub Choir at 6:00.

COMMUNITY

•Community-Wide Prayer & Worship Service will be held Monday, January 5th at First United Methodist Church at 7:00 p.m.  Everyone is invited to participate.

•Christian Women United will meet Tuesday, January 6th at noon at Captain Joe’s.  Rita Lightsey will be speaking and Kendra Lott will be sharing in song.

•Wednesday—Pre-Services 6 pm; Services 7 pm.

•Monday: 6pm-Music, 7pm-Drama & 8pm-Discipleship.

SANCTUARY CHOIR

•Rehearsal schedule: Sunday 9:00 a.m. & 4:30 p.m.; Wednesday following service.

•It is time once again to start thinking of Easter.  If you would like to have a part in this years’ Passion Play, contact Pastor Javan.  The kick-off will be Saturday, January 17th at 11:00 a.m.  Lunch will be provided.
